When I bought my turtle, I didn't notice the white spots on his shell. But as I got home, I saw them. The care sheet said that if white spots appear, it means that the turtle is not in a clean living condition. (stupid petstore) But it's been around a month since I got my turtle, and he still has the two white spots on his shell. Anything I can do to get rid of them?

Are the spots hard, or soft? Do they cover the whole shell, or are they just in places?

If they are hard, you can try removing them vinegar. It could be mineral deposits on the shell.

If you have a picture of the shell dry, that would also help.

There are two white spots on his side. They're quite small. The scute where one white spot is located, is starting to peel. I'm very worried. What can I do?

Those spots don't look good to me. I may be wrong but they look like shell rot. This is a picture of a turtle with shell rot. Looks similar to your turtle's shell spots.

Oh..that's awful. Poor poor darling. It's all the stupid petstore's fault. I bet they don't even CLEAN the tank. As for now, what do I do?

That looks like shell rot to me as well. If you look here: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/m ... %20Disease: there's info about treating it. Or, you could take your turtle to a herp vet (you would need to if you were to use the Silverdyne cream mentioned there).

The areas should be treated. Left untreated the bacteria will eventually get into the system and cause blood poisoning.

I really don't know where the nearest herp vet is. Should I go back to the petstore and ask if there's anything they have that might treat it?

Under the urgent care topic, at the top, there's a list of herp vets. Going back to the pet store that gave him the shell rot in the first place wouldn't do much good, they'd probably say, "oh he needs this new (insert random product) over here that's on sale today for 25% percent off!"

Make sure your tank stays clean and get him to a herp vet ASAP.
