Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So Zekers has decided he doesn't like his HBH Pellets....I'm not liking them much either as they are red and dye his water with a red tint....can't be safe for him....GRRRR! Also makes his tank get lots dirtier quicker. So we picked up some Reptomin from walmart tonight hopefully he will like them. He has been taking bites of his HBH Turtle Bites and then spits them out. He's eating his lettuce good and his shrimp/crickets but does not like the pellets any more...I'm wondering if he's just finicky or what, his previous home said these were the only pellets he would eat.

Perhaps Zeke has developed a new zest for life and food as well? If a person ate only canned beans their whole life, I bet they'd want to switch when they realized there was more out there? My turtles love the zoomed pellets. They HATED the first brand I tried. By the way, can I beg for more pics of Zeke? I hate to admit it, but I have a crush on your turtle.

LOL! Sure! Here are a bunch in his album! I will take some more tomorrow for you! I am totally in love with my Zekers too. He's such a cutie pie.

I sure do hope he likes the new pellets. I don't want him not to eat pellets at all. I may need to try the tuna fish juice trick.

Thanks for all the present an future pics! He is just a doll!! :D The picture you've used as your avatar is the cutest turtle pic I think I've ever seen. I also think the fact that he hissed at your dad for being a vet and poking him is great after all he's been through. Turtles hissing to express displeasure is such a great mechanism of communication! I don't think mine can do it yet, but one did snap at me as I was rudely putting a bit of cod liver oil in his eyes to relieve them. I bet Zeke will eat pellets of some kind. It would be nice i they would make little sample packs of pellets so we could figure out what they liked best before buying a whole can!

Thank-you! That picture was taken the day I got him. He is such a handsome little...well um big fella. That would be nice....maybe a nice medley sample pack of all the pellets out there so we can figure out which one they like the best....then we wouldn't have to waste a whole can of pellets they don't want to eat. The HBH pellets came with him and he's not having anything to do with them anymore...I think the little spoiled brat knows that I will do whatever for him now, and if he wants better tasting pellets, by darn....he'll get better tasting pellets....LOL! He's doing good though.
