We used feeder guppies. They are a little bit smaller than the (i call them) Fancy guppies. I too would feed them because we feed out turts in another tank. We also have some red eyed fish in there and the turtles have yet to eat them. Actually they are so fast I don't think they can catch them. lol

I asked for 10 (they were 10/$1.95) -- when I got home there were 13 (maybe the lady thought my turtle would love them). Still searching for info on this -- coming up empty.

She (the concensus is that Nomer is a SHE) is still running away from them.

Well, like Marisa said earlier, some turtles don't care for them. In the wild, older turtles are more herbivorous and don't eat live prey as often as owners think. Just focus on getting her to eat a well-balanced diet, pellets as staple every other day, veggies daily, live prey occasionally. :)

They don't eat as much live fish in the wild as people think, but they do eat a fair amount of live food, mostly in the form of insects, worms, things of that nature. They'll eat what's readily available and is easiest to get.

I keep two comet goldfishes in my tank. No, not for food but for cleaning up the bottom of the tank. They are A+ scavengers and will spend a lot of their time at the bottom of the tank rummaging for scraps of food.

Oh and mollies are bigger versions of guppies. They breed a lot but not as much as guppies. They are also more expensive. They're ok for turtles I think.

Nomer loves worms -- it is so funny to watch her with them. And she also loves cooked shrimp. Hmmmm, maybe if the water gets too warm and cooks the mollies, she'd eat them then? Just kidding......

Just thought I'd let you all know that the black mollies have all "disappeared", and there are only 5 of the original 13 gray guppies left. Nomer loves to be outside in the sun and appears to be thriving beautifully. She will even eat from my hand. lol And she does beg -- as others have experienced. What a pleasant surprise we received from the flood.
