aww what a strong looking turtle! does he always let you get that close when he's basking?

Well... he was using his grass as a ladder to freedom... so after he escaped for the 3rd time, I had to take it out.
At first I thought he was falling out on accident - getting on the edge of the aquarium and tipping over, but now I'm pretty sure he was to be doing it on purpose. ...I think he wants to be a cat.

He does look strong, doesn't he? I love how his little claws look.
He's pretty used to me taking pictures of him now, so if he knows it's me, he's okay. I had my camera about a foot away when I took that one. Sometimes when I come around the corner or get up from the couch, he'll freak out and jump in the water. I was grabbing him to take him outside the other day and I was actually able to grab him right off his rock. It was nice not dripping turtle water all over the floor.
