Feeding and Nutrition

When I got Tilly in January she was about a half-inch. I just measured her today, and the length of her shell is 5 inches, from heat to tail, she's about 7 inches. I'm worried that I'm feeding her too often and that the water temperature is too high. She gets fed reptomin once a day and 5 bunches or anacharis about every three weeks. Her water is around 80/82 degrees all the time. I'm still treating her like a hatchling (she's only 9 months old) but maybe it's time to treat Tilly like the young adult she has become. Any advice on if I should cut back on the feeding and reduce the water temps?

5 inches in less than a year is a lot.

The temperature is pretty high, you should lower it down to about 78.

What is the amount of pellets you are feeding her per day? The correct amount of pellets should equal the size of her head since that's roughly how big her stomach is. Also try to introduce some veggies in her diet (there is a sticky about this).

I agree 5" is a lot.....Temps are fine even at 75/76 and he is feeding veggies (anacharis is a water plant).
Just cut down on the pellets to every other day.I'm sure the turtle has signs of pyramiding.

I know anacharis is a plant. What I really wanted to say was to offer other kinds as well in order to have a more varied diet.

i think my turtle is sick of anachris
i keep it in the tank 24/7 but its starting to grow a lot so i dont think he wants it at all anymore

You can give him different kiind of veggies like turnip green, collard, ipoema aquatica and many more.

5 inches in a year reminds me so much of Kame and she had developed light pyramiding. She is now veggie eater
