Heres some more pics. Im still in the "proof of concept" stage of the build. im hoping to have a thick bed of grass with some dandelion grow in on top of the bog. Once i get Sump planted ill post some more updates.

Oh wow, you have a lot of cool stuff going on. Really looking forward to seeing more. Was there any unexpected issues from the last build?

thanks! as far as issues there were a handful. the biggest of which was humidity. even with an enclosed canopy i was getting condensation issues. The general Size of it made it difficult to work within the tank as well. i literally had to swim in it to reach the bottom of the tank lol. the first Tank was my first time using a Sump and i miscalculated where my water level would be in the sump so my emergency drain was at the wrong angle so it didnt drain properly. i learned alot with the first tank and think i have the majority of issues covered with this design. I also have a dehumidifier in the garage now so im not too worried about humidity moving forward. In terms of structural or leaking issues, there were none.

i think ill probably continue to use this current design for all my future tanks. i want to build out another 10 x 8 x 10" shallow tank for some musk turtles.

LOL reaching into the tank... imagining a turtle trying hard not to be caught

Glad to know things generally worked out, it looked pretty solid from the beginning. Looking forward to see what else you come up with!

The planted sump looks great. Any other critters in there?

A solid basking area should do a better job at drying plastron. It does look like you had moss in there, that didn't work either?

Wow, it's been a year. Everything still looks great. Phil reminds me a lot of my male RES.
