I have one yellow bellied slider, named April. When I got her she was about the size of a quarter! I thought she was a boy for about 2 and half years lol! Her first name was Leonardo, and I changed it to April once we found out she was a she. Both names are from TMNT, April was the red headed girl on the show, obviously everyone knows Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello.

Thank you, Steve, I don't want to stress myself up searching for a name that is why named him according to his shell color. The same goes with my other pets, like Copper the Pomeranian and Ash the Pug. I have set-up wood pet gates so that these two won't mess up with my mini aquarium in the living room.

Hello :)

I have two RES. One is 16 years old, when I first acquired her, I was told she was a boy - so I named her Phil Donahue. I have since discovered that she is not a boy, but she doesn't seem to mind the name.

My second slider is only about a year and a half old now, still not sure of it's gender - so I've respectfully named it Little Phil.

Here they are meeting for the first time (no they aren't in the same tank, don't worry)

Both look great ! Out of Phil Donahue 16 years of life are you her first owner ? Or how many years have you had her since you acquired her ?

Mine are only a couple months old, so sex is unknown. But I have tentatively named them Spazz, Einstein, and Bubbles. I just recently got back into turtles. I have had RES in the past, but had to rehome as I moved out of the country. And it is almost impossible to get pets into Trinidad unless you have a special license and lots of money! LOL

Hi! I just signed up today but I have had my red eared slider for a couple years. We were going to name it Raphael but then from stuff we read we think it is a female so her name is Shelly. I know, not very original lol. She is a great addition to our family and runs around all over the house and will let us know when she wants in her pool. She does prefer to be in the pool or tub to eat. We even set up a play yard for her in the summer where she has a fenced in area with a swimming pool in the center with rocks to get in and out of the pool as she wishes. I never know that a turtle could be such a great pet!!

Hi Shelly and Rhonda! How big is she now, we might be able to guess the gender. Outdoor setups are great too, my male RES loves it outdoors (my female not as much).
