All of my fake plants are the ones that already have weighted bases, he moves them around, but they still stay on the bottom and upright.

I tried drilling holes into large rocks and then using the silicone to put the fake plants into them. But they were able to eventually pull them out. My next attempt would be to use a marine epoxy, not sure how turtle safe it would be.

My current idea for live plants is to make some kind of box or cylinder. Was thinking of plexi or a screen/mesh material. I would put large enough holes to allow the plants to grow out and big enough so the turtles heads don't get caught. I have the idea in my head just not sure how it will look. My theory is once the plants get a little more established and aren't a "new" thing they will be able to stand up to the turtle onslaught.

I figure it is all about size and abondance of plants. I'd say if you have a pond size setup then you can have the room to put enough plants in that the is so much the turtle can't completely destroy the population. Just a theory on my part tho.

I found a separator at Petsmart that was on clearance, only problem is it was only 20 gal version. If I can find a larger one I'd be in business, just section off part of the tank for the plants and cut some diameter holes in the mesh to allow the plants room to grow out.

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=3742975 is what I'm talking about. Maximum size is 55 gal. Bummer I need 100+. I wonder If I could take the 55 gal frame and take some screening for windows/screen doors and enlarge it.

My RES decided to eat the floating platform rather than the plants.

What about some egg crate for a divider?

@Polly Ester - Is it a Zoo Med dock?

Yeah it is Steve. Rather concerning but my turtles also make short work of filters or ANYTHING left in the tank

I was thinking about that too, unsure how I would attach it, something lighter like a screen would easily attach with suction cups.I guess if I got a large enough piece then cut it in a triangle shape so the two tops hang over the top and put some suction cups under water at the bottom to keep it from sliding. Hmmm

@Polly Ester - you might want to consider a different type of basking area.

@Listen97 - You could try those aquarium cleaning magnets or something similar.
