Horsepower is how fast you hit a wall. Torque is how far you move a wall

I dont know that many of us have DIY filters or even use pumps. You might post the same question on a fish forum and get a better response. I like www.cichlid-forum.com

They might be able to help.

I'm building a DIY filter. Going to finish it up tomorrow when i get paid.

But that should be good. The current on a 600GPH will be strong. What size tank you have? remember you want someting 3-5 times more than what you tank size is. I'm going to be getting a 55 gal and my pump is 400. So its 8 times more but thats with a 1 inch hose. If i put my 1/2 hose on the intake of the pump it only does half so thats 4 times more at 200. And if i want to upgrade it i just put a 3/4 or 1 inch hose on the end. Its very adjustabale like that for mine. the connections are just screw on.

this is where i bought my pump at

there might be other things there that might be use full to you too.

I've never thought about making my own filter....how much cheaper is it compared to just buying one, and are they hard to make?
