Hey turtle talkers,

I've been offering my baby turtles carrots but they will not eat them. I was wondering if uncooked carrots are too hard for them?? Would it be ok to boil the carrots for a bit to soften them up?? Thanks for all the help.

You could steam them slightly to soften them. But if you're not doing so, you could also use a peeler to make them some very thin slices, like skinny worms (no steaming necessary). Since they're babies, they might take a bit before they're willing to try them, though. But if they don't keep trying every once in a while.

Some turtles just flat out do not like carrots. Sheba won't eat them unless they are cooked/soft. She hates any hard foods. You just have to work with their individual tastes.....in that way, they are just like kids! :)

my turtle likes the carrot peels..maybe mix a carrot-string or 2 with a small piece of romaine (if you use a food clip)
