Feeding and Nutrition :: Vitamin E?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So I'm searching around the forum at various recommendations people have given me, making a shopping list for today, and I found a link to austin's turtle page. It says on there that failure to shed scutes can be because of vitamin E deficiency, which I had not heard. I've been looking around to find foods high in that, and the only one I've found that seems like it would be safe for a turtle is mustard leaves. I guess 1. where do I find those and 2. does anyone know of other E-rich foods that are good for turtles?

Turnip greens and Papaya are both high in vitamin E and good for your turtle. Blueberries have a moderate amount of vitamin E, but I would go with the Papaya if you want a big dose.

A lack of Vit E and difficulty in shedding scutes is true (and something that I posted about long ago). Aside from actual foods, look at the nutritional data on the pellets you buy to make sure Vit E is included in the ingredients (preferably in the first half of them).

If your turtle will eat mustard leaves, that's great. I often see them in produce sections next to the dandelions. :)

Thanks for the great suggestions! Napoleon devoured some papaya, it's the only fruit I've ever gotten him to eat!
