My little guy (about 6 months old) has been living on Wardley Reptile Premium Sticks, but I've started putting shredded carrots and letting romaine and other dark leafy greens (not spinach) float around.
They're so good at manipulating their food! He gets it in his mouth, and then those little arms hold it still or shred it away!
By the time I check on him again he's usually shredded the leaves to very tiny pieces (in the process of eating the majority of it), and then he eats those too.
It's so neat. His eyes light up when he sees the carrots. I think he's confused and think they are his reptile sticks.
And I use the term "guy" loosely, as I don't know yet. I'm hoping, though.
Of course, now I write this I threw in some carrots and I think he was expecting pellets and now he's spitting them out and swimming at the side of the cage looking at me! I think he mostly likes when they settle to the ground and he goes on a treasure hunt in his river rocks looking for them.
