Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

One of my turtles STILL isnt eating anything else besides pellets, while the other one loves everything i offer him.

Its been a month already,i called my vet and he said that i should stop trying to get him to eat vegetables and just supplement his food with commercial vitamin products.

I did a quick search on here and i found a few threads about people who used vitamin supplements on their turtles and had negative after effects.I also found that you shouldnt realy use vitamin supplements unless a turtle is sick.Would it be OK?

Is the one turtle healthy? Rather than supplements (unless you know he's definitely deficient in something), you might want to buy a few different brands of pellets (all reputable) and rotate them, so he gets something from one that might be missing in another. I'd still try to include some of the "standard" veggies in his diet, particularly leafy greens (have you tried anachris?).

He's not deficient in anything, the vet says he is OK but he wants him to get more vitamins.I feed him two different types of pellets,i feed him reptomin baby and zoo med adult pellets and he chows down on them viciously, when i offer him veggies like carrots, green leaf lettuce and anarchis he looks at it and swims away. But when i take out the can of pellets he goes nuts and starts begging. He's a healthy turtle and has grown an inch already. My vet just "highly recommended" that i supplement his food.

I would avoid using supliments unless he has a specific problem (ever heard of too much of a good thing?). As far as him refusing to eat greens, he's just trying to train you to give him what he wants thru begging. :)
