Feeding and Nutrition :: Too much Lettuce?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Can you feed your turtle too much lettuce (or other veggies)? I remember a thread about this but could not find it. Does the "fit inside thier head" rule pertain only to the pellets?

Should my turtle get pellets every day? I'm worried that I am over feeding. Or am I under feeding? :?

The size of head issue is for pellets. They should be fed pellets every day as hatchlings, and every other day or every two days for adult RES. I made the switch to every other day when they were about a year old.

You can feed too much lettuce, and it will be evident by your turt having the runs, lol. I think how much exactly is more of a trial and error kind of thing. Keep in mind that the amount will change as he grows.

thanks!

Well currently I feed him lettuce until he stops eating it. He loves it. His poo seems fine. I guess I will keep on feeding him a lot of lettuce and veggies until I notice something.

Just keep in mind that variety is key! Don't just feed lettuce, but try offering other veggies as well.
