Feeding and Nutrition :: Feeding procedure?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I know the food should be dropped in the water, but the food can be sucked in the filter intake and clog the filter.
So this is what I do:

in the morning, I shut off the filter first, then drop in the water some pellets, shrimp, and other meat. After 30min I come back to scoop out the debris and remaining food if they stop eating. Turn back on the filter. In the night, I throw in some veggies but leave the filter on, coz veggies floats, wont clog the filter, and veggies dont mess the water. Then in the morning, I scoop out the remaining veggies, and repeat the cycle.

Tell me please if I am doing it wrong.... :)

theres really no wrong way to feed your turtle. its all about preference, maybe to save some time, you could just go ahead and feed them in a separate tank(that is if you have one). food doesnt clog filters often, especially meats because they are somewhat heavier than the suction power.

What kind of other meat are you feeding? I don't have a problem with the pellets, because mine float like the veggies do. I'd give feeding in a separate container a try. It doesn't have to be another tank, it can something as simple as a dish pan.
