It isn't recommended, but I've heard that they can be fed the boiled egg white upon occasion or if you are having trouble getting him to eat.

I hope I don't hurt him. He eat some of the yellow. Do you think it will be ok though since he ate some of the yellow? When you feed them eggs and such it makes the water really dirty. Do you feed them different things in the water or like will they eat different things out of the water? What is some good things to feed them? I put some green leaf lettuce in his tank in the water but lettuce doesn't seem to catch his eye.
Any tips would be good on what to feed them and do you always feed them in their tanks.
Thanks, Misty

It probably didn't hurt him just one time, it's what it would do over time if it keeps being fed since it isn't the healthiest part of the egg to give him.

They have to eat in the water since they have a reduced saliva glands and a fixed tongue. Now some people have a tupperware or rubbermaid large container that they will fill with water that is the same temp as their tank and will feed their turtles in there. Some turtles will eat in a separate container and others won't. I guess it's just the difference in preference and personalities and where they feel comfortable at.

Keep trying a variety of veggies since he really needs the nutrients in his diet from these. You may have to with hold his pellets and treats until he eats the veggies. You can also try getting the smell of something he likes on the veggies like the boiled egg or tuna water.

Not the yolk, but I do give my turts slivers of boiled egg white on occasion (it's high in protein, so it shouldn't be given often or a lot at one time).
