Feeding and Nutrition :: Feeding Fish

So I put three Rosy reds in for Dan Dan The can man to eat and have not fed him anything else for two days now and have noticed he goes after them and when he does not catch one he gives up. How much longer should I hold out giving him pellets?

how old is he? and who told you not to feed it pellets?
I'm new here but from what I gather so far the fish are more like treats since as you probably can tell it may take some time to catch them. If yours is a hatchling you need to feed it every day.

Not sure the Age Hes about 2 maybe 2.5 inches and I do feed pellets, The guy at the pet store said not to feed the pellets when you put fish in there for him. But maybe he was wrong Thats why I am asking.

hmmm...well, I only have experience with a hatchiling right now. and i was told that I shouldn't stop feeding it its pellets even if I introduce other foods.
thats why i was surprise you were depending on the fish.

Its says that RES under one year old should be fed pellets everyday
thats why I ask for your turtles age.

If you know for sure that your turt has eaten some fish, then it would be ok to skip the pellets, but if you see that he hasn't, then go ahead and feed him. The biggest concern is too much protein. It can lead to shell problems and cause extra stress on internal organs.

Are you offering veggies? The veggies are more important in a diet than the feeder fish. Be sure to read the what to feed section of the forum.

Ok Great tnhanks for the info and yes I do offer vegies daily but most of the time he wont eat them

Don't give up on the veggies. Holding the pellets until the turtle eats the veggies is sometimes suggested. We call it 'tough love'. It is an important part of the diet, so finding a way to get them to eat them is advised. You can try soaking the veggies in tuna juice, or mixing with some canned cat food to attract him to it.
