My RES normally likes a variety foods. But as our weather is cooling with seasonal change, he doesn't have such a good appetite. Is this normal?

Yes, fairly normal but do keep an eye on water temps. You do not want it too cool where they want to brumate but are still active. Does he have a water heater and thermometer?
