General Care Discussion :: Turtle in corner?

I have a newish RES, had em for about 8 months now. I’m new to turtle owning so I don’t understand some of the things he does. Such as the fact his favorite spot tends to be over In the corner of his 20 gallon tank which is on the opposite end of his sunning rock. He does bask, but when he’s not basking he’s off in his corner kinda just sitting there and not really active. I heard RES are generally active turtles so this has me confused on why he’s in that corner so much

8 months he should be adjusted to the new home. He is not happy and still scared. Make the tank more turtle friendly. ! Even for a 1" baby the 20 gallon is very small. Even if full to the top with water and a "ATBA" . What size is your turtle ? Please read at top header on this page the habitat requirements for a RES. Making a setup to size and the way a turtle likes goes a very long way. Then you will see all his traits , personality's and he will entertain you all day long.
