My RES, Sammy is showing signs of fungus on his shell ( I think). I've been treating it with betadine and I bought him a better basking light. I keep his tank and filter very clean. But I cleaned his tank very deeply and changed filters even though it was ok. He is about 5" and acts fine, but I don't want this to get out of hand. I love my boy. I've had him about 4 years. (I've been treating him twice a day) TIA for the help!

Also, I have a small RES (about 2") that I saved from the mouth of a rotwoller. He has a shell wound but it's not deep. Can I treat him with betadine as well?

Can you post pictures of the shell and wound? Is it bleeding? What do you see (red, pink, white, black)? Are they kept together?

I can try to post pics. It's white little spots. And they're spreading. No, they are in separate tanks. I tried to put them together but Sammy wasn't very kind.

This is the wounded one "Smiley" I've only had him a few months, at first the shell didn't look bad at all. But now it looks worse, and I beleive that I might be dealing with some shell rot. I wish I would've know more about that when I got him...but I didn't.

It looks mostly like shedding. Also some overfeeding and possibly diet issue.

Do they have UVB lights? What's their diet like? How is the injury healing?
