So my Fluval fx6 is no longer pumping it started a few days ago I took it apart cleaned it out reconnected it worked pretty well and now it's dead again unplugged the filter plugged it back in and nothing no noises no water pumping zip so do you in your opinion should I try buying an impellar or a new motor

Did you also clean out the impeller? Do you feel any vibrations? No noises might mean the motor is dead.

The FX6 does have a 3-year warranty.

No noises and I looked up the warranty but it doesn't cover the motor

Oh, you're right. Wouldn't hurt to contact them anyway, sometimes a friendly agent might give you a hand.... it's worked for others.

So I took this. Ot or apart while waiting on the new one to be delivered today and noticed a large quantity of calcified crap inside the impeller chamber and on the impeller how often should this be taken apart and cleaned out

Good question... do you have hard water? Could it be mineral deposits? To be honest, I've never had a hint of deposits in my other filters except on the output nozzle.

Yea I live in an apt so I can't install any water softener but it's really hard

You can pre-filter the water before you use it in the tank... maybe even a basic version of this: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33171
