She hates carrots. I'm going to try pellets tomorrow morning. Yesterday she ate another shrimp ball after an exhausting session of shell checking. Her bottom scute shed is dirtier than I realized. :(

Hi, i'm new here but thought I would chime in. Is Sheldon a girl? Could it be she needs to lay eggs? No mate needed. My girl has no mate and lays eggs every year. She will not eat 2 to 3 weeks before she lays. She lives outdoors in koi pond for the summer and every year around this time she searches for the perfect sunny spot. Just a thought and pardon me if I am misinterpreting Sheldon's situation. Not sure how to find out background info like age and sex in your "introduction"

I also read somewhere that liver is smelly enough to attract a sick turtle and has great vitamins. - use only to entice not as a regular food source

Sheldon is in fact a girl. She has never laid eggs yet and I'm kind of hoping this isn't it. She hasn't tried to escape her tank or anything else. Right now the only odd thing is that she isn't eating - which by now has also translated to not pooping. She still swims and was basking the other day. The new pellets arrived last night so I'm going to see if she's bored with the old ones. I appreciate your input!

Ok so this morning, she didn't even look at the pellets. This afternoon, Mom helped me look over her shell and Sheldon got some workout in.

She then proceeded to eat another shrimp ball and I caught her eating pellets off the bottom of the tank. I was going to skip trying to feed tomorrow and see what happens on Saturday, Unless someone else has other thoughts...

P.S. I scheduled Sheldon's checkup with the Vet for Tuesday.

I guess I would keep trying, did she like the new pellets?

She liked the new pellets but she ate them in the afternoon, not the morning, and she had some on Friday too. She wasn't interested this morning but maybe by the time I get home, they'll be gone.

What happens if you don't give it to her in the morning, but when you get back? She might need to work up an appetite during the day.

Just got home and some of the pellets are missing and she's basking. You could be right. Maybe when I get home from work I should try and feed her.

Sheldon! What the heck is up?!?
I am glad she ate, even if it was off schedule. Crossing my fingers for you!

Penelope! So glad to hear from you. As for Sheldon - she's seemingly back to normal. Basking, eating lettuce, and pellets, and making a mess. I guess it just takes the vet poking your organs to get you back to normal. lol
