Hey guys I'm pretty new to owning a turtle and I've noticed a small piece of his shell came off and I'm pretty worried . I feed him properly l let his light stay on for 12 hours a day I have him on a feeding schedule he basks pretty good I'm not sure what to do

Is it a thin, translucent layer? If so that's normal.. if you're not sure, feel free to post a picture. How does the part of the shell that shed look?
