Habitat - Indoor :: Newbie with concerns

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hello! I am new here. I am a new RES owner. I have my tank set up and I am using a ceramic heat emitter 60 W . The sales clerk suggested it along with a UVB bulb. She said I should leave the heat emitter on 24 hours and the uvb on hour 12. This is my first reptile so I am very nervous about leaving this on for 24 hours a day. The screen on the tank does not seem to get really hot but the lamp is very hot to touch. I am concerned about it starting a fire. Will this be okay? Thanks in advance

HI! If you use an emitter, you should turn it off when the UVB goes off. An emitter is not a substitute for a submersible water heater (if you need one).

I initially used an emitter myself, but I think they like to have a warm light in addition to their UVB.
