Hey Guys,

I really dislike my filstar XP-M and it really cant handle the load of my new tank. I wanted to get a fluval fx6, but I went to the store and noticed its way too big to fit on the bottom of my cabinet because the doors are too small. Anyone have an idea of what would work good that is a little thinner than the fluval? I want it to be easy with the syphon and easy to clean because these turtles have become a little too much to handle since they have got so big.

What's the size of the cabinet? Most of the canisters we recommend are pretty large.

I have about 11.3 inches of clearances. some things I can maneuver a little kind of like bringing a couch through a door lol.

I don't think you will fit any decent canister under that. Is this a custom cabinet? Most have a bit more clearance.

I was looking at a eheim pro 3 2075 but it doesn't look like it's made for turtles and it seems weird I don't see anywhere to put carbon I really liked how bio Chem zorb worked on my tank but I don't see a place to put that kind of media it only has what looks like bio media

You should get about 2 feet with that, is there anything else in there?

There is plenty of room inside the thing i have all my stuff i use to clean the tank in there the problem is fitting it through the door.

FX6 put it outside of the tank stand. You asked for an easy to maintain filter and I assume you want a good one?

I have been thinking about it but the tank is right in my living room and it would look very ugly outside. part of the reason me getting this stand was to keep everything underneath

plus I know my girl would have a fit. I do want a good one under 300

Room under your stand is an issue. I'm not sure you can find a good filter that will fit ?

Yea I don't know everything that I have bought for my turtles has ended up not being good enough it's been costing me a ton of money swaping out hardware. That's why I was thinking just get a good eheim, but I dont see much info around on this one for turtles. It seem everyone only likes the filstar or fluval, and the filstar one sucks imo.

Upgrading is such a pain, that's why we always say to go as large as possible each time. Eheim are good filters, it's just that the FX's price and performance are great for turtle tanks. Filstar seems to have more problems since moving their production to Asia... I have 10 year old filters still working but the were made in France.

What about a sump ? Or a trickle tower . From what I see they look pretty easy . And you can build it the way you want and put as much media and whatever media you want into it , and you can use a power head of whatever size you want . I have a magnum 350 pro and I plan on building a sump with a 35 gallon tank a 5 gallon bucket and a 320 gph power head , so total on my tank I'll have about 670 gph flowing through a 75 gallon tank per hour

it's like draining and refilling it 9 times in an hour lol . So I'm thinking that might be good , plus I plan on using bio balls and ceramic rings and other stuff , I think a sump might be the best way to go in your case !

My bad ! I'll have 850 gallons per hour goin through my tank that's almost like draining and refilling my tank 12 times in an hour ! I'm pretty sure my water will stay pristine ! Lol I'm gettin a whole new setup I'm so excited ! Just don't wanna spend 300 on a fluval fx 6 I can spend about $50 on what I need for my sump maybe 60

And I can get bio balls and ceramic rings and other media I need super cheap online ! I'm so pumped lol
