This may be a stupid question but is there a way to quiet the sound from my waterfall filter without raising the water level? I have the water level as high as I can have it at the moment but soon will be adding an upper basking area so I can raise the water level (hopefully before January). Until then is there a way to make the sound quieter? I have a lily pad platform under the waterfall so it softens the sound but my turtles move it around at night when they redecorate. I have the waterfall at a low pressure at night but I can still hear it across the house (and since its in my bedroom, it's seems even louder at night). Any thoughts are welcome! P.s. I'm trying not to have to buy anything since I'm getting the upper basking area so any diy would be awesome!

Which filter is it? It's not stupid because I had something similar 10 years ago: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1405&hilit=aquaclear

It's my Fluval Aquaclear waterfall filter that's noisy

That link you posted helped a ton! Thanks! I'm gonna go get some plexiglass and try that!

OK great! If you get a thin piece of plexi and have a heat gun, I would try to fold it so you can put it under the filter. But either will solve your problem.
