Hi! I'm Memaw, an Atlantan grandma who has a 1000 gal outdoor pond with 8 koi and 6 goldfish, as well as two Res; male and female.
Toby is about 4 yrs, Shelby was new this spring so prob about 4-5. Both from pet store so it took a while to train them to eat vegetables, fruit as well as pellets. They also eat peachie froz mice which I put repcal powders in for vitamins. Had a vit a deficiency earlier this year which has been corrected. Wanted to find a forum to trade info and questions about the turtles.
Last year they hibernated under a large half log in leaves, but the female died upon exiting hibernation..so this year cut a tub, put leaves..sand..clay in bottom with large holes at either end and put half log on top so turtles can enter, most fish too big.
Otherwise koi will root in there and send it all into my filter. Hopefully this is more like a true pond bottom to brumate.
