No vitamin D3??? *Bangs head on wall* That is something I've never heard. And I just got a new calcium that has no phosphorous but does have D3. Why is it bad?

D3 is naturally produced under UVB. So it might not be needed, depending on the quality (or lack of) of your UVB source. If you're using a small amount, I wouldn't sweat it.

PHEW. Okay. haha He has a UVA/UVB bulb, but there's only a Tbl of the calcium/d3 powder in a 64 serving batch, so I think he should be fine. I also just found another red eared slider site that says some D3 supplementation is a good thing even with UVB rays.
Oy! This sort of thing is why my dad had to take care of my boy for me for a while. I have an anxiety disorder and tend to freak out easily when it comes to my pets. ha
Thank you so much for responding quickly!

In reality, the lights we use for turtles don't produce a fraction of the amount of UVB (therefore D3) as real sunlight, and RES bask under "Nature's Bulb" all day. For this reason, I would say that D3 supplementation with UV lighting is fine.
