Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Been awhile since I posted. Steve is now over 2 years old. He gets green leaf lettuce every morning and in the afternoon he gets a Jell-O shot, wheat germ, reptomin, or omega pellets pending on the day of the week. Sunday he gets a cricket. Is that too much feeding for a turtle his age?

Lettuce is okay for an every day food, but the shots and pellets you mentioned are probably better for every other day. You don't need the crickets.

Is feeding him twice a day too much?

How does his shell look? A lot of dietary problems will be visible with turtles still growing.

It's a little rough but that's been there for awhile. It's actually starting to grow the bad spots out

Also, how often should you feed a hatchling? I just got a new hatchling and was trying to remember.

Right now my 2 year olds exact schedule is:
Monday: green leaf lettuce in the morning, jello shot in the afternoon
Tuesday: green leaf lettuce in the morning, reptomin pellets in the afternoon
Wednesday: green leaf lettice in the morning, Jell-O shot in the afternoon
Thursday: green leaf lettuce in the morning, omega pellets in the afternoon
Friday: green leaf lettuce in the morning, Jell-O shot in the afternoon
Saturday: green leaf lettuce in the mornings, hikari wheat germ pellets in the afternoon
Sunday: green leaf lettuce in he morning, gut loaf cricket in the afternoon

He isn't getting overweight that I can tell but I don't want to hurt him. I hear after they get older they should eat less often

You can feed a turtle everyday, it just depends on how much. The schedule sounds pretty good... maybe change up the green leaf once or twice a week.

Ok thanks Steve. If I notice him getting chunky could I cut out the afternoon feeding every other day?

George eats twice a day since she hit her 12 month birthday. Her diet varies. Pellets every day. Lettuce when she's begging. A main dish of shrimp once a day. Or salmon.
