Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I would say no on a food block. They are made for fish. Your turtle will be ok for three days without food. Just feed well before you leave. Turtles can actually go for some time without food.

...just hate to think of her as going hungry. Still exploring options. Thank you for the feedback.

I'd avoid those blocks too. It's always best to have someone come in and feed/check.

Friend fed her. Yay! She's fine. She looks bigger than I recall. Her neck. But I Googled neck bulge and she definitely doesn't have that. She might be getting fat. Lettuce and pellets for her for a while. And carrots. Cutting way back on salmon (as in none for a while). (She's glad I'm home). :)

Thank you for everyone's advice!

Glad things went smoothly. Sorting out the pellets in a pill box will make it easier for guests to feed her. Does she look fat elsewhere?

Hahaha, she is extremely observant. Even when I take her out of her tank and put her in a smaller one to clean things out, she watches the area where I'm working on her tank because she knows what's going on. And when I put her back in, she just flutters and flutters away at my finger as if to say: "Thank you, Turtle Mama!" :msgreen:

Did you get them all at once? How many do you have?

George gets a lot of undivided attention since there are no other turtles for her to bond with (a deliberate choice on my behalf). She's stuck with me!

Yeah, he just stopped by once. I advised him to give her 7 to 10 pellets.

I have a male and female, in each their own tank. The male is refusing veggies this winter and my female has been extra skittish

My female is doing the same thing. She usually loves her lettuce but not so much this winter. She still likes her pellets.

Interesting! George had the nerve to spit out her lettuce this morning. I thought it's because I'd just given her a little sliver of fresh salmon and she's being picky/preferential. Maybe it's the weather. We're having a lot of frost (even some snow) this week. Salad and cold weather do not usually go hand in hand.

During the winter you might find your turtle doesn't act normally. I think its their biological clock.
