Feeding and Nutrition :: Question about Food Pellets

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Hi,

When I got rescued my map turtle the previous owner had been feeding it with this King Fisher Turtle and Terrapin food. On the tub it says feed 2-3 times a day - with no quantity stated. I just wondered if anyone knew why it would say to feed that often when all the advice on here says to feed only every few days with pellets? Is it because they are low in nutrients?

Thanks!

I feed pellets everyday, but only a small amount. Every other day is acceptable practice for older turtles. Feeding information on packages is often generic and not really thought out. If anything, these look like they have a lot of protein.

Interestingly, this site says "Feed sparingly twice daily. Do not overfeed." which is a bit more accurate.
