Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hi all, I just found out that countless of termites were in my driftwoods when I left them aside out from my tank a few days. When I tried to put them back in, I saw the termites started to float on the water surface! Thankfully, my fishes took those termites as snacks. Is it still safe to use the driftwoods?

A bigger concern is if the termites migrated there from your house. If the driftwood was mostly underwater, and you took it out for a few days, I'd be thinking of getting an inspection.

As to safety of the driftwood in your tank, I have no idea. I can't imagine it's too big of a deal, but dying termites inside the wood may cause a mini-cycle.

I doubt so, I can't find any traces of termites in my house besides the driftwood. I suspect that they grew from the driftwood. Is that possible?

I'd agree with ljapa. I can't see this having much of an ill effect on your tank. You could plunge the wood into some boiling water for a few minutes to kill everything if you want to be 100% safe.

Hello..
The principal thing you should think about cleaning driftwood is that when you gather the driftwood pieces on the shoreline the pieces will be sandy and salty.
The salt is on and in the driftwood.., and holds dampness..., which rushes wood rot. It is in this manner fundamental to start the driftwood treatment with a decent perfect.
