Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I have hatchling pellets, a 15 oz container. I have used maybe 3 oz of the container. It says for turtles up to 2" but can I feed this until gone and then switch to omega one, or should I just be planning on switching soon my turts are 1.75 inches and 1.5 inches.

They can still eat it, though if it's not a good brand, then I would switch right away. Lately, I've just been mixing different pellets together but you can alternate them too.

That is a good pellet. The hatchling formula is high in protein, so I would probably give less of it or mix it with another pellet (wheat germ, or mazuri).

That should be fine, though I would add wheat germ pellets into the mix (about 15-20%).

Added for variety and supposedly helpful for shedding. I think all those who use it (including me) use the Hikari Wheat-Germ made for Koi.

I used Tetra Pond Wheat Germ Sticks, also made for Koi, until last month. I thought they were excellent, less protein, and Bobo loved every piece of it. It even seemed to help her with shedding, but, to answer Starscream's question, it took a good few months since I began feeding her those pellets.

My turtles are less than 3 months old. I am asking I should expect shedding to start around 6 months or 2 years. I really don't know. I am kind of learning as I go.

I'm guessing that three months is also around the age our turtle was when we got her. I saw the first shed two or three months after that, and saw the last shed six or seven months later. During that period, shedding was a bit longer than monthly.

It's now been nine months since a shed, but I may have signs of one starting.

I'm not sure that all RES are the same, but that was my experience.

And, I mixed in the baby pellets with adult pellets until I finally used up the can.
