So I looked over from my computer, and at that moment, I saw my turtle chasing this poor little fly. It isn't exactly the large housefly; it's smaller, almost as small as a mosquito but has a longer body.. I call it a flea, but I don't really know how to classify other than it looking like a fly. Anyway, since it flew into my turtle's cage, I'm assuming that my turtle has probably eaten more of those than I have ever known about. Is that safe? His tank is right next to the backyard door, so those pesky flies do fly in a lot, though, it's definitely not excessive.

I should be fine. This is the type of stuff they would eat out in their natural settings.

devilduck: so I shouldn't worry if that flea/fly had anything parasitic (doubtful, I live in a trusted suburban area) or bacteria? :)

The one thing I would be concerned about is poison if someone is spraying these insects. One wouldn't be cause for concern but if the turtle is eating a lot of them I would cover the tank.
