Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

The 925GPH is the measurement right at the pump... that's what the native pump can put out with no head. The 607, now 563 I guess is what the pump can push up the 6 feet of hose.

Yeah I know parts change and they may have switched to a different supplier for their motor. I'm just wondering if there's any indication like this is a FX5 series 2 or 3 or something. It's not a big deal as 563 is still a very powerful canister pump... just curious.

Its just an FX5.Maybe they just realized that it didn't really push that much water. I say this because of still says the pump itself still pushes. 925 GPH.

That's possible also. Either way it's only a difference of 44GPH (7%) at full hose height. I doubt many people run the full length of the hoses vertical.

I know you said your water got clean, but have you figured out what's going on with the lack of flow with your unit?

Ha ha funny you ask part of the problem was that I had the output nozzles pointed too sharply and that restricted the water flow
Working much better now.

Oh good... glad you were able to figure it out. Please let us know your thoughts about the filter after you've had it running for a little while. FX5 on a 40G tank should yield one very :D

You could use the water bar. My filter came with a knob that lets me adjust it's output.

yes definitely you can just close the output side valve.

The FX5 doesn't have a spray bar. It's the XP canisters that come with that feature.

How can I get rid of white calcium in my tank. My cascade 700 had a spray nozzle above the waterline and it's all white. The top of my heater is doing the same thing. ?

You can never have too much bio media. The fluval pre-filter rings are kindof useless. I bought a box of those by mistake once thinking I had grabbed the bio rings. They look very similar.

I would ditch the pre-filter media, fill the bottom two trays with bio media or pot scrubbies, put your carbon & purigen in the top tray and either some filter floss or the fluval blue pad on the top of the top tray.

White vinegar then rinse. You'll probably want to do this next time you do a major tank cleaning. You can try some distilled water - that usually helps get some of it off.

I'm a little confused why are you putting the blue filter in the top basket when fluval says to put it in the bottom basket? Would peat cut down on the calcium?
