Hey there! Just back from the store and I couldn't find any romaine lettuce for my baby YBS, Zephy. I was looking around for a substitute and I just found a lettuce called 'Lollo Rossa'. Is this any good for turtles? He's fed dandelion and duckweed and loves
'em both so I was kinda just looking for more variety. Any answers are appreiciated :)

Yes, we call it red leaf lettuce and it's very good too.

That's good to know. Put it on his food clip and he's munching away at it. I'm lucky Zephy is so adventurous! Is it unusual for a baby turtle to take to vegetables straight away? I've been reading around and I was expecting him to hate them when he's younger and steadily grow into it. He eats his pellets first obviously but he always eats his greens.

I wouldn't say it's unusual but it doesn't happen often. Some RES, babies or not, are just little pigs.

Both of our RES started eating veggies at about 5 months old. They prefer Romaine, but I generally feed them red leaf and green leaf lettuce. Our 2 year old YBS loves Red Leaf the best.
