if your referring to the sleeping branch he is hanging on it tonight to sleep

My RES like to do that too. My male RES likes to take one paw to hang on and poke his head out of the water, while in my other tank my girl like to tip toe on a submerged platform so she can easily stick her nose out of the water.

yeah the first is exactly what Toku was doing. Do you have a similar setup Steve?

Not really, it's just a cork bark edge placed at an angle. Very simple and reliable. Looks pretty good but not as much as the drift wood.

Oh ok, I like the cork bark look. I actually got this idea from a post on the Austin turtle page, if I'm not mistaken. There is a article about picking, prepping, the materials needed and building the platforms. I found it by googling driftwood basking platforms. The author is Bob McNally. This is the person I have to give all the credit to for my basking area. I just followed his instructions. It was really easy to do.
