That's a very astute observation, I'll have to remember it.

I suppose this all may be why my turtles shell is now a dark green/brown instead of green.

It's actually only about 2 and a quarter inches, btw.

RES shells darken naturally as they age. When they are full grown they can be anywhere from brown/brownish-green to almost black. I'd think this is more of why your RES's shell is darker. :)

alkaiser, rather than Reptocal, it would be better to use RepCal (the latter is phorphorus free).
