My turtle Rosie is usually a pig. I noticed she wasnt eating which never happens. After a few days I got nervous amd watched her more. She was basking more than ever like all the time. After a week I hand fed her fish which made me feel better knowing she ate. but its been about a week again and no dice on the pellets. Al (my other turtle eats normally). She is very restless, more than usual and basks a lot more otherwise she doesnt seem sick. Could her taste have changed? Or just wants to lay eggs? I did notice that behind the rear legs is puffy and bloated. Ive put her in an sandbox and she just tries to escape. Its winter and cold here so I cannot let her outside.

Could be eggs... has she been gravid before? Did you try to feel for eggs? When she is restless, is usually during the same time of the day?

Im not sure what gravid means. But she was like this once before but not as bad, she just stopped eventually. Also she is trying to get out of the tank all the time. I let her roam around in a tupperware container filled with sand and she just wanted out of that too.

I did not try to feel for eggs but I guess I will now that you mention it. At night she calms down. I felt for eggs and pretty sure i felt one. Also last time one of the turtles did lay an egg right in the tank but it was cracked. What should i do???? How long can they go like this before eating, laying an egg or just getting normal again?

As long as she expels them, it's fine. Just scoop it out and throw away. Does she want to "get out" of the tank around the same time of day?

When or right before that time, try to put her in the nesting tub/container. The only thing that can really get her to lay eggs is a shot of oxytocin. If not, then hopefully she'll expel them into the water.

Glad she's expelled them. Keep an eye out for more over the next few weeks.
