I got a zoo med 501 filter a month ago, today i took it apart to clean out all the algae from the pipes, carbon and ceramics. So when i filled the canister with water and plugged it in, instead of the water being sucked in from the intake,it puts out water from the intake. Also there is nothing happening with the outtake. Please help me.

Did you get the hoses mixed up or the top of the filter on the rest of the canister backwards?

Here's the manual if this helps any...

Nope, i took everything apart and put it back together like it said in the instructions. Also is the carbon supposed to be out of the bag and is it supposed to be on the top or bottom?

Would the carbon be on the top or bottom, because on the box they show the carbon on the top but in the instructions it is on the bottom?

You want the carbon in the water path before the bio rings. Although with the tiny 501, it really doesn't matter much. You're going to end up cleaning that thing every few days anyway.
