Feeding and Nutrition :: My RES hasn't eaten in two months. Why? ):

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I have six red-eared sliders. They are very small and young, about an inch and a half across at the shell. They live in a 10-gallon tank with a filter and proper heat lighting, both for daytime and nighttime. They are all happy, healthy turtles, except one.
I feed all my turtles separately, to avoid bullying and fighting, since I'd had that problem before with another turtle. They are fed in a small container and then put back into the tank after they are done. One of my turtles has not eaten for around two months now. He rarely opens his eyes, and when he does, they seem to have a film over them, which he also opens from time to time when disturbed. He rarely moves. I have tried different food (I normally feed them ReptoMin floating pellets, and I tried freeze-dried shrimp) and different water temperatures in the container I feed him in. All the other turtles eat very well. What is wrong with my turtle, and how can I get him to eat? He is wasting away and I'd hate to see him pass on.

What is your water temp? You don't need heat lighting at night providing you have a water heater. Six res no matter what the size in a 10 gallon tank is way over crowded. He could be bullied when you're not looking. Or it can just be failure to thrive especially in the conditions you have them.

I think that with so many turtles in such a small environment you are bound to see some health problems popping up. Even at the size they are now your turtles should technically be in a 90 gallon aquarium... I won't even go into what they will need when they grow up...

Hmm, the people at the pet store told me the heat lamp was enough to properly heat the tank and the water. So, I should go out and buy a water heater? I HAVE noticed the water isn't as warm to the touch as I thought it should be.
I am going away to college in May and my boyfriend is buying me a 50 gallon tank for the turtles then. Until then, due to space constraints in my house I honestly have to keep them in this.

Have you read through the information on redearslider.com?

Unfortunately people at pet stores often give out very bad info. I would start by reading:

Although it's a lot better, A 50 gallon tank is still too small for 6 turtles even that small. You really might considering trying to rehome some of them.

Please think about what Kurtni has said about re homing some. Most pet store people do not know what they are talking about. Please double check here before making pet store purchases. This is to save you money.

That's strange... My turtle's been acting that way too.. He's so small! Well, I know that my turtle loves to eat worms.. Maybe you could use one to trick your turtle into eating some pellets.. I tried it on mine and it didn't work but the worm was almost dead.. I'm still wondering what's wrong with my turtle. =(
Don't you sit and judge me from some high and mighty seat. Don't you shrug it off until you've walked a mile in my bare feet. 'Cause there are people that you pass by every day with harder cards than yours in life to play.

Can you make a new post in urgent care, general care or in the feeding section? It might help get more details and ideas about what's going on with your turtle.
