So I'm here to ask a couple of questions regarding me purchasing new tank filters. I'm curious about the xP3 and the CFS 500 filters. I found both on ebay and I also found the CFS on aqua traders. I currently have one turtle who will be moving into a 55 gallon tank as soon as the stand is finished being built. Since the holidays are upon us I'm trying to find the best, reasonably priced filter. I don't want to spend more than 120 dollars but I want something that is going to be reliable and not a hunk of crap. Does anyone have any experience with either filters? I need something that isn't real complicated, easy to take apart and clean and restart, etc...

Thanks for any help you can offer! :)

I have used the XP3 and found it to be a good filter---easy to clean and good at keeping the water clean. It would work well in your 55-gallon tank. I don't have any experience with the other filter you mentioned.

I think the CFS brand is a Eheim knock-off (possible reliability and warranty issues). The XP3 will be perfect for your tank.

The xp3 is the better filter of the two. The cfs filters from aqua traders do work...many of reviews on the net but they are poorly designed knock offs. If you can afford the xp3 you won't regret it.
