After calling every pet/pond/plant store in town i finally find one that says they have duckweed in stock. i hop on the bus and ride it for an hour to get there. upon arrival i am handed a bag of something odd... it looks like the pictured i've seen of something called water-meal. Its slightly bigger then in the pics tho. single leaves the size of a pencil lead. also it has a thick matt of roots thats about 2-3 inches long.

ill try to post pics when i get home. but in the mean time, can anyone guess what this is? and most importantly. will my turtle eat this?

probably a member of the duckweed family.

i have duckweed in some ponds and they are tiny with one or two leaves and a few roots hanging down.

any live plants in my turtle tank get eaten and destroyed. so these probably will be if your turtle is anything like mine lol

The pictures I looked at of water meal don't look like the duckweed I know. There are quite a few variations of duckweed, but the water meal looked quite different.

Duckweed basically looks like a small three-leaf clover that floats on the water.

A pic would definitely be good, though.

Ok im having issues taking a detailed pic of something so small. But yeah its just as i said, a single small oval leaf and a long fine root that goes from 1 to 3 inches. She doesnt seem to be interested in the small amount i have added. ill try adding a clump with some feed.
