so once again, my fx5 isn't working properly.
i don't know why i keep trying to repair it.

but anyways,
basically there's no water flow.
i got a new motor and new impeller and everything
and i emptied it out, cleaned everything and plugged
it all back in.

it will fill itself up with water,
but after that it doesn't suck any water in or push any
water out.

i don't know what could possibly be wrong :|
i replaced everything and it still won't work.

hellppp. please.

(also if you have any suggestions on a new kind of filter that
would be well suited for a 125 gallon aquarium).

may seem like a dumb questions, but have you filled it up with the necessary 2 gallons of water before turning it on and letting it prime itself?

yep. put the two gallons in.
it filled itself up, and the motor sounded like it was running.
just no water flowing.

Another silly question, but are the valves all the way open?

What sort of media do you have in there?

Could there be something in the hoses that's blocking flow?

i'm glad you're asking silly questions, i was sitting around thinking
about if i missed some stupid little thing..

but the valves are open and i just rinsed all the hoses out yesterday, so nothing is blocking them.
i haven't checked the internal hoses though, so that's on my list of things to check witht the filter.

top basket i have those hexigon pre filter things,
second basket is coarse pads.
and the bottom is fine pads.

i had that same media in there before i started having the problems.
and i haven't changed it or anything.

If you've had them in before, it probably won't make any difference, but maybe just give a try running it without the fine pads, or even running it with no media. It could be that there's too much media in there.

Hmmm... Was the new motor and everything installed correctly?

Is the filter below the water line?

Just throwing out a few more ideas...

Is the FX5 a good filter? I was thinking of eventually getting one.
