No, there shells are in really good condition. They always refuse to eat pellets. anyways the vet that i go to is specialized in turtle care and she seemed to think that it was okay for them to have fish especially if the bone and organs were included. I will keep trying to get them to eat veggies, i know they can be stubborn.

Caphits, this topic is not really to criticize but to exchange ideas. Turtleluv, I think most turtle keepers here will agree that adult turtles should be receiving more vegetables. I've butted heads with herp vets about diet before... and about other things, but ultimately it's your decision.

Is this ok for a 2 year old, shell is 3 inches?

Sun: Lettuce
Mon: Pellets and Lettuce
Tue: Lettuce
Wed: Pellets and Lettuce
Thu: Lettuce
Fri: Pellets and Lettuce
Sat: Variety day

Pellets are Reptomin floating sticks, I give head sized amount.
The lettuce is either red leaf, green leaf, or turnip greens.
For Variety Day, I try to do a fruit once a month, or a vegetable different from the staple lettuce/greens I use. I am also considering adding a guppie or rosy red minnow once a month for variety day.

Feel free to PM if you have any suggestions or comments. I'm still learning, and appreciate all the help I can get.

Is there any kind of veggie or fruit that shouldn't be offered to a RES?

Fri - 6 pellets + lettuce

It'll change next week as I'll get more variety

Turtle Age (Aprox) ~ 1 year
Turtle Size (SCL) ~ 4 inches
Turtle habitat (indoor/outdoor) indoor

Sunday:5 pellets and shredded green lettuce leaves
Monday:3 pellets and 2 freshwater river shrimp
Tuesday:5 pellets and shredded green lettuce leaves
Wednesday:7 pellets
Thursday:3 pellets and 2 freshwater river shrimp
Friday:5 pellets and shredded green lettuce leaves
Saturday:7 pellets

Treats (and frequency):freshwater river shrimp

Oh, and i have a question too, on my can o' shrimp it says use within 7 days but there are about 50 in there. So do I keep on feeding the shrimp or stop after 7 days.

Turtle Age (I'm guessing around 2 years)
Turtle Size (5 1/2)
Turtle habitat (indoor/75 gallon tank)

Sunday - Pellets, lettuce
Monday - pellets, lettuce
Tuesday - pellets, lettuce
Wednesday - pellets, lettuce, krill
Thursday - pellets, lettuce
Friday - pellets, lettuce
Saturday - pellets, lettuce, krill

Treats - Rosy Red Minnows (2 a month) and freeze-dried krill(twice a week)

I do feed pellets everyday BUT I cut the normal amount in half so I'm not overfeeding...It helps with the guilt for me when he begs!!! (zoo med growth formula)
As for lettuce I use organic baby red and green romaine..
And the minnows just live with him and he picks them off as he pleases which so far has been about two a month! He has guppies as well but they are too fast for him(and he's too lazy for them)and have found very good hiding places!!
I'm thinking of adding blueberries as another treat but keep forgetting to pick them up!!
Male RES - Penelope(yes I know it's a girls name!!)
3 Ferrets - Jelly, Frodo, and Josephine
1 Cat - Lennon
More Reptiles to come

I have two female trachemys scripta, at simular age and size.

Turtle Age (Aprox) ~ don't know, I guess 10-15 years
Turtle Size (SCL) ~ ca 8 inches (20 cm)
Turtle habitat - indoor

Sunday: 1 head pellets
Monday: A handful aquatic plants, weeds or lettuce.
Tuesday: A handful aquatic plants, weeds or lettuce.
Wednesday: 1 head pellets, insects, fish or shrimp
Thursday: A handful aquatic plants, weeds or lettuce.
Friday: 1 head pellets
Saturday: A handful aquatic plants, weeds or lettuce.

I don't keep a schedule, but that's about it.

Treats (and frequency): I try to get the aquatic plants with snails on, as an extra treat  Once or twice every month I give them a piece of carrot, zucchini or peas. And a couple of days every week I give them cuttlebone.

I have two RES, same age and size:
Turtle Age (Aprox) ~ hatchlings (I assume)
Turtle Size (SCL) ~ 1 in. each
Turtle habitat - indoor (20g tank)

Tomorrow I will have had them for a week, so we don't really have a schedule yet. Here's basically what I've been giving them (in the proper format, of course ;) ). The pellets are Reptomin Baby, broken in half and put in the water to soften up a few minutes before the turtles are transferred to the feeding area.

Sun: 5-6 pellets
Mon: 5-6 pellets, romaine lettuce
Tues: 5-6 pellets, romaine, cooked turkey
Wed: 5-6 pellets, romaine, tuna
Thurs: 5-6 pellets, romaine, turkey
Fri: 5-6 pellets, romaine, tuna
Sat: 5-6 pellets, carrots & zucchini

Treats (and frequency): So far the only "treat" I've tried to give them is a couple of blueberries today. One took a little bit of a berry and the other completely ignored them.

I feed them in a separate container since my filter is pretty puny (a donated Whisper 10, but I'm hoping to upgrade soon). They only eat a very little bit of pretty much anything I give them, although one seems to be getting fonder of the pellets and both eat the tuna/turkey fairly readily. So far the only veggie I've gotten a marginal nibble on was a carrot piece, but I think it was too big for the turtle to get a handle on (will be cutting/shredding them thinner next time). I know it's only been a very little while, but if they don't start eating more soon, I'm going to get worried! XD

Wow, I wish I read this post earlier, so many different and cool diet ideas!

Turtle Age 1 to 1 1/2 years
Turtle Size 3 inches
Turtle habitat indoor

I basically feed him the same thing all the time. I get this prescription catfood from Mr Pink's vet which is really high in vitamin E and calcium. In this I mix blenderized veggies, greenleaf lettuce and zucchini mostly, so that it's about 50% catfood 50% veggies. Mr Pink won't eat anything that isn't stick-like and floating so he doesn't heat non-disguised veggies. Then, I put the mix in a ziploc bag, flatten it out and freeze it.

I alternate every day, feeding him pellets one day then hunks of frozen catfood the next. About once a month I put a bunch of duckweed into his tank and it's gone by the end of the day. Maybe every 2 weeks I'll give him some brine shrimp. I think I need to start incorporating more (and more varied) veggies into his diet though!
