Hi, i've read about turtles getting stuck to the inlet tubes before but i don't really understand what people do to stop that happening.
I know there have been past topics on this so sorry for starting a new one. I tried to find past posts of this but it's hard because everything i type in "turtle stuck" or "inlet tube" there would be many other unrelated posts.
Anyways, I saw someone saying you silicon the inlet tubes together or something but anyone care to explain it?

on the intake there is a little screen on the end of it. how alot of turtles get stuck is they knock them off and then a leg or an arm gets sucked up and the suction is so strong that they cannot get away. it happens with younger turtles more than older but what alot of people do is take aquarium silicon and basically glue the intake screen onto the inlet tube itself so that it cannot come off anymore.

Some turtles, especially the smaller ones, can wedge themselves betweens those tubes but in bars or decorations as well.

And really strong filters can be dangerous to small turtles despite a well secured inlet like what Daniel is referring too. For that, I would recommend a prefilter, which will add a cover to the inlet.

To prevent that, I used a bit of hot glue on the intake and then put on the strainer. Works like a charm.
