Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

Just thought I'd post an update on Mr.T's pond. I'm starting to realize it's getting a little small. 150 gal but it's not filled all the way. Mr.T didn't eat the baby koi I threw in there last year and now they're like a foot long each! We need to upgrade pronto! So, here it is, before the thing gets torn down!

Is this outside or in a greenhouse? Won't the rain ruin the lighting?

It's a nice pond. That's a LOT of water hyacinths haha

It's outside. It doesn't rain much here and when it does I just turn them off :) they would only break if the bulbs were hot when it rained.

They have been there for a year, i haven't had any issues w them? I plug and unplug them to turn them off and on so there no risk of electrocution, if it was to rain. They are clamped on there very well with rocks as extra security.

I don't see the harm, maybe if you guys explain your hesitation I would?

Remember that i live in southern cali where it rains like 10 days a year :) :) :)

Where have i been? I check in quietly and pop in when ever I feel I need to give my 2cents

It's a ceramic garden decoration I found at the garden store, like a wall plaque.

It gets gloomy or cloudy sometimes. Mr.T has a history of Shell Rot so I put the lights there to make sure he can get as much UV's as possible.

Hey, nice set up neighbor.

Looks like you are right on the other side of the hills from us. Did you get a lot of rain from that system that just came through? Our pond project got totally flooded. The soft dirt we had dug up became deep mud.

Doesn't your turtle eat the water hyacinth?

Hey, looks like we ARE neighbors! We didn't get too much rain, just light showers nothing heavy. I always check the pond to make sure it doesn't overflow and it didn't. It actually didn't rise at all.

Funny, it's like the biggest news when it rains everyone talks about it. People from other places must think we're crazy :)

Mr. T doesn't eat the hyacinth as much as he used to. He goes through his fazes. It's kinda nice tho cause he just snacks on the plants now and they actually have time to grow and reproduce. I used to buy about 5 plants a week!

He has that turtle back to climb on - you can see it underneath those lights.
