I've had two res for about 6 months now. They've gone from little babies to about 3-4 inch shells. When I first got them, they were eating the little turtle pellets fine... But recently I went on a 3 week vacation and asked my friend to take care of them. She loves animals, so I knew they would be taken care of.

Well, I just got them back yesterday, and it's like they've decided to stop eating!! Pee-wee will eat a few pellets, but not as much as he used to, and Bob won't eat at all!! I know they're hungry bc they keep trying to dig into the ground and stuff and "look" for food... even though it's right next to them.

I don't know what to do!! Could it be that my water heater is broken? I touched the water today and it did seem a bit colder than usual... not even lukewarm... But they're still very active, so I don't know. please help!!

Do you have a thermometer? Even if you can set your heater to a specific temp, it's always good to have a thermometer to double check the water temperature. They are cheap, so pick one up.
Have you spoken to your friend about your turtles' eating habits? Did she notice any changes while you were gone? Did she feed them any treats?

Well, they're doing a little bit better now... they're just eating smaller amounts more frequently, which is the same way they responded when i gave them to my friend, so she says. The water temp is fine, maybe it was just a fluke. Thanks for the help =)

If they were moved to your friends and then back to your place, they could simply be adjusting to the change.
