my larger turtle eats alot more then that his about 3 inches . he loves to eat but is it bad for him?

If you are overfeeding him then yes it is bad, overfeeding can cause liver damage and a number of other bad, and fatal illnesses. Re-read the info on the main site about feeding and nutrition: http://redearslider.com/pellets.html

my larger ( fatter ) turtle eats alot more then that. his bout 4 inches. i am in the process of seperating them bc the smaller one is soo much smaller bc chunk ( the large one ) eats so much and they will not eat when they are put into smaller feeding tubs. so i am seperatin them for good i think. but does anyone know if it will damage chunk if he eats soo much? ty

Yes, Steve, I meant the back of the cuttlebone. I hate peeling the backing off, it takes forever but Brooks loves it. Thanks for all of the suggestions....I am going to try all of them until she starts eating pellets again. :D

You should remove it. It's quite sharp and probably not the best thing to eat.
