Hi, all. I'm trying to figure out how to use my Hydor ETH in-line heater with my new 70 gallon stock tank. The stock tank will be filled 2/3 of the way to the top and will be sitting on a 8" platform. I'd like to attach it to my extra Rena XP-2 canister filter, but it's just too long.

Would it be a bad idea to attach my XP-2 motor to an XP-1 canister so that the Hydor will fit??

Keep in mind that this would NOT be my main filter - it's primary purpose would be for heat and additional water circulation within the tank. I would prefer not to have a submersible heater in my tank as it'll just take up space and I know my turtle will mess with it.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I'm picturing this. How is the filter too long? Are you planning to raise up the stock tank?

Most likely the physical dimensions would be the same, but I'm not 100% certain.
